During a trip to Santa Monica, CA, I was surprised to find how much my understanding of a location I thought I knew well from living in the area for years, had changed after a relatively short time away. This made me think about what impressions a first time visitor to the region might take away. This photo essay, titled “First Impressions”, raises questions about social responsibility and self image.
